This small sake cup, a straight-sided cup used for Edo-period dining, is painted by hand in sometsuke cobalt. She reunited the pieces in layers of natural urushi, applied genuine 24K gold powder in the traditional maki-e manner, and finished the seams through roiro, the highest grade of urushi finishing, giving the gold a smooth, deep luster; the cup remains food-safe.
