Authentic Kintsugi

Authentic kintsugi porcelain teacups and saucer restored with natural urushi and gold, displayed on a wooden stand.

Authentic kintsugi is kintsugi in its classic form: broken Japanese ceramics rejoined with natural urushi lacquer — never synthetic glue — and finished along the seam with 24K gold, pure silver, colored urushi, or a blend of these. Every piece below is one of a kind and available now: food-safe, complimentary international shipping, with paulownia box and certificate of authenticity.

24K gold is the classic seam — yet silver, colored urushi, and lacquer decoration arts such as raden and maki-e give each fracture its own distinct character.

Before You Acquire a Kintsugi Work

What makes your kintsugi authentic?

Every piece is restored in Japan using traditional kintsugi with natural urushi lacquer — never epoxy or synthetic adhesives — and finished with 24K gold, pure silver, or colored urushi. Each one-of-a-kind work includes a certificate of authenticity naming the artist and is presented in a hand-stamped paulownia wood box.

Are your kintsugi pieces food-safe?

Yes. Once fully cured, natural urushi is food-safe, and pieces intended as tableware can be used for tea, sake, and dining. Care instructions are provided on each product page and with your order.

Do you ship kintsugi internationally from Japan?

Yes. We ship internationally from Japan via DHL Express, and shipping is complimentary. Import duties, taxes, and related fees are not included in the price and may apply depending on the destination. See our Shipping & Customs Policy for details.
