Product Description
<About Kintsugi Parts>
Blue Ko-Imari goes well not only with gold, but also with silver. In this vessel, we used pure silver powder for Kintsugi and then finally coated with urushi (Japanese natural lacquer) to prevent the silver from oxidizing and turning black. In addition to repairing the cracked and chipped areas with traditional kintsugi, we have also drawn kintsugi patterns on some other unbroken parts to create a dynamic kintsugi piece.
<About the Original Vessel>
This vessel was made over 150 years ago. Vessels made in Saga Prefecture in Kyushu, on the western edge of Japan, are called Imari ware.
Vessels made after 1600, during what is called the Edo era in Japan (the last period ruled by samurai), are called Ko-Imari (old Imari ware), and are popular as simple living vessels.
Originally, this vessel was made for drinking a cup of tea, but it is just the right size to be used as a soup cup as well.
