Unique Kintsugi Large bowl, Pomegranate Kyoto ware
As this Kintsugi piece is one-of-a kind, we can offer only until it has sold.
<About Kintsugi Part>
The high value of this piece is due to the skills of both the ceramicist and the 24k gold kintsugi repair, which was exceptionally difficult due to the badly broken state of the bowl.
Especially, it is so difficult to repair with Yobitsugi and Kokuso-urushi for the area with missing pieces. This masterpiece is filled with the most difficulty of traditional Kintsugi techniques and superb lacquer craftsmanship.
<About the Original Vessel>
Thisl large bowl has been hand painted by the artist Kaoru Ito (1943-2019) . During his lifetime, he has excelled at exquisite brushwork. This vessel is covered in elaborately painted patterns, which are typical of Kyoto ware. The gorgeous hand-painted overglaze enamel and Shonzui patterns are so vivid that one can see the care and attention that went into each stroke.
<Thoughts Behind the Piece>
In order to revive the ceramic artist's thoughts on the masterpiece, we have put our own interpretation of the thoughts behind the vessel into the Kintsugi process. We hope that you will spend a gorgeous time with this masterpiece of Kintsugi that has been artfully beautified beyond time, without ever giving up on the repairing until the finish.

How to care for Kintsugi Piece
- After use, wash the pieces using a soft sponge and food-safe detergent.
- Rinse them in lukewarm or cool water and completely dry them using a soft dish cloth.
- Do not soak them in hot or cold water for long periods of time. This may cause the urushi or maki-e lacquer to peel or fracture.
- The urushi (Japanese lacquer) may break or the maki-e lacquer decoration may peel off if the piece is dropped or if it collides with other hard objects. Please handle these pieces carefully.
- Do not place these pieces in the microwave or dishwasher.
