Products and Warranty Policy

It is the responsibility of the owner of Kintsugi to ensure proper setting and cleaning.

- The Kintsugi portion of the vessel is natural urushi (Japanese lacquer). After use, wash the pieces using a soft sponge and food-safe detergent. Rinse them in lukewarm or cool water and completely dry them using a soft dish cloth.

- Do not soak them in hot or cold water for long periods of time. This may cause the urushi or maki-e lacquer to peel or fracture.

- The urushi (Japanese lacquer) may break or the maki-e lacquer decoration may peel off if the piece is dropped or if it collides other with hard objects. Please handle these pieces carefully.

- Do not place these pieces in the microwave or dishwasher.

All pieces restored by The Kintsugi Labo JAPAN are warranted to the original purchaser, for one year from the date of delivery, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship.

- Warranty

Within the warranty period, we will restore free of charge any piece that we determine to be defective in materials or workmanship under normal use. Kintsugi pieces are fragile and will not withstand rough handling such as being dropped, struck, or subjected to weight or force; such treatment voids the warranty. The warranty does not apply to any piece that has been misused or used for commercial or rental purposes. Within the first 14 days of delivery, if a piece is defective, we bear the cost of return shipping as set out in our Refund Policy. After that period, return shipping to our studio for a warranty restoration is at the owner's expense; we cover the cost of returning the restored piece to you.

This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights as a consumer, including the 14-day right of withdrawal set out in our Refund Policy.

Your rights under the law
This one-year warranty is a voluntary commercial guarantee given in addition to your rights under the law. It does not replace or limit them.

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the EEA, you have a statutory legal guarantee of conformity of at least two years from delivery. In the United Kingdom, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you a 30-day right to reject faulty goods and the right to a repair or replacement, and claims may generally be brought for up to six years (five in Scotland). In Japan, our liability for non-conformity of the goods under the Civil Code applies. Nothing in this policy affects any of those rights.
