Product Description
<About Kintsugi Parts>
Mr. Suginaka applied red Kintsugi on this vessel that has been applied Kintsugi once but have broken again.
The broken parts are all joined by only natural urushi (Japanese lacquer) using traditional Kintsugi techniques rather than chemical adhesives.
The broken pieces are very fine, so it requires a very high level of skill to apply Kintsugi again using only urushi.
This red color is created by mixing natural urushi with the traditional red pigment.
<About the Original Vessel>
We purchased this vessel, which was unintentionally broken twice and supposed to be discarded at the pottery store.
This is "Shigaraki ware" (produced in Shiga Prefecture, next to Kyoto), which is famous for its tea ceremony.
Shigaraki ware is characterized by its unique warmth.
<Thoughts Behind the Piece>
In this piece, we expressed the strength of life force that can be revived by Kintsugi no matter how many times it is broken.
We created this piece with the hope that this powerful Kintsugi will make you feel energetic and peaceful.
May you feel a beauty of the imperfection in Kintsugi.
All materials we use are natural and do not have any risks of toxicity.
The piece comes with a Paulownia box, including care advises, a giveaway, and a certificate of origin and quality.
