Neo Kintsugi Serving Plate Twinkle Stars [Only 3pcs left. Order early!]
As this Kintsugi piece is one-of-a kind, we can offer only until it has sold.
<About Kintsugi Parts>
This serving plate is a new piece that expands the sustainable concept of Kintsugi.
Black urushi(Japanese lacquer) is applied on the slate and gold powder is sprinkled on the corners of the plate to make it a very gorgeous finish.
It is unusual to apply urushi on the stone, and the original color of the stone has been enhanced.
<About the Original Vessel>
Since slate is a natural material, chips inevitably occur during the production process.
In the past, such unsalable vessels were discarded, but we upcycle them by repairing with the same technique as Kintsugi and reinforcing the chipped parts with urushi.
The slate is moderately heavy and sturdy enough as a plate, making it easy to handle.
<Thoughts Behind the Piece>
The gold pattern is made to look like the twinkling of stars.
By recreating a scene of twinkling stars against the deep black background of the universe on your dining table, your food will stand out even more. Whether you place your food directly on the slate or put another vessel on top, it will create a gorgeous dining experience!
May you feel a beauty of the imperfection in Kintsugi.
All materials we use are natural and do not have any risks of toxicity.
The piece comes with care advises and a certificate of origin and quality.
This product will not be packed in a paulownia box, but in regular cardboard.

How to care for Kintsugi Piece
- After use, wash the pieces using a soft sponge and food-safe detergent.
- Rinse them in lukewarm or cool water and completely dry them using a soft dish cloth.
- Do not soak them in hot or cold water for long periods of time. This may cause the urushi or maki-e lacquer to peel or fracture.
- The urushi (Japanese lacquer) may break or the maki-e lacquer decoration may peel off if the piece is dropped or if it collides with other hard objects. Please handle these pieces carefully.
- Do not place these pieces in the microwave or dishwasher.

Broken Vessels for Kintsugi
We never use vessels that have been intentionally broken to make kintsugi pieces.
We are packing with a traditional Japanese material called paulownia, which grows quickly and has a low environmental impact.
